Homemade Memory Game

I'm spoiling the surprise again.

Cassidy is invited to another birthday party, this time for a three year old boy. Boys are so much harder to make things for than girls!

Part one of his gift is a Memory game. I got 16 wooden rectangles (which will last a LOT longer than those cards you get when you buy the game at the store), modpodged some scrapbook paper on one side and found some stickers of planes, trucks, boats, and trains for the opposite sides--the matching sides. I modpodged over the stickers as well, just to help it hold up a bit longer.

I found a wooden recipe box that was perfect for holding all the "cards" and painted it blue. I used a prepainted shape (the train) to add a little character to the box. For less than it costs to buy a new game, I have a custom-made one. You could change the stickers to Disney Princess, letters, or even pictures of the family to fit your little one's wishes.

I think it will be a good gift. Three year old boys like things with wheels, and Memory is an excellent thing for them to play at that age. Check out Jill, where I found the original idea.

Keep your eye out for part two of the gift!
